The Tyler Alumnae Chapter (TAC) strives to assist the local community with strategies that promote financial literacy while encouraging economic self-sufficiency. The current Economic Development program initiative of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is Financial Fortitude, where we are challenged to help program participants to set and define goals, develop a plan to achieve them, and to put the plan in action. Financial Fortitude is a plan that will address all aspects of personal finances.
The Tyler Alumnae Chapter (TAC) has three major programs that guide how we promote educational development in our local community. The Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy focuses on young females (ages 11-14) and augment scholarship in math, science, and technology, and leadership through service. A continuation of this program, Delta GEMS focuses on African-American at-risk, adolescent girls aged 14-18. Delta GEMS offers a road map for college and career planning through activities for self-reflection and individual growth. The EMBODI program focuses on empowering males to build opportunities for developing independence as empirical data suggests the vast majority of African-American males continue to be in crisis and are not reaching their fullest potential educationally, socially and emotionally.
The Tyler Alumnae Chapter (TAC) strives to develop programming focused on our DeltaCare initiative that promotes self-care through physical wellness, emotional wellness, and awareness/advocacy.
The Tyler Alumnae Chapter (TAC) seeks to raise awareness regarding our global society by promoting a better understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures. TAC facilitates programming that provides assistance, relief and resources to developing countries, all while gaining a better understanding of cultural challenges across the world.
The Tyler Alumnae Chapter (TAC) Social Action Committee works to ensure the chapter is aware of issues concerning our local and national community. The committee coordinates activities throughout the Tyler community, along with supporting programs such as Delta Days at the State Capital and Delta Days at the Nation's Capital.
