Welcome Sorors and friends to the official website of the Tyler Alumnae Chapter (TAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
In November of 1942, TAC was chartered, under the guidance of one of our Founders, Myra Davis Hemmings. For the past 78 years, we have worked tirelessly to make manifest the vision of our 22 Founders, by implementing projects following our Sorority's Five Point Programmatic Thrust:
Today, we are comprised of over 70 educated, talented, and dedicated women, bound by sisterhood and a commitment to public service. We honor TAC's legacy of labor and love by implementing programs for the betterment of society.
We want to thank the Tyler community, and our sister chapters for your continuous support.
With Gratitude,
Denise Pendleton
Tyler Alumnae Chapter, President
Denise Pendleton was initiated into Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. through the Lambda Chi Chapter at the University of Texas at Arlington, April 27, 1980. She has held several leadership positions in the Sorority, including chapter president - Lambda Chi, chaplain, vice president - TAC, and Delta of the Year for the 2015-2016, 2016-2017 and 2019-2020 sorority years. Her Delta roots are her Soror/mom, the late Dorothy Pendleton, initiated at Texas College, Gamma Epsilon in December 1953, and faithful member of TAC, and her Soror/sister, D'Andrea Pendleton Abdullah, initiated into the Lambda Chi chapter in the fall of 1977.
After 27 years at American Airlines, she spends her retirement by working part-time at the Tyler Literacy Council, and serving on the advisory boards of Texas African American Museum, and the American Heart Association. She is an avid genealogist, with a love for travel and photography.

TAC is a continuous supporter of the Greater Central and East Texas chapter of the Susan G. Komen organization. Annually our support ranges from donations, participating in the Tyler/ETX Walk, along with chapter led events that bring awareness to the fight against breast cancer.
You can count on the dedication of the City of Tyler community coming together to support the needs of our community. TAC is always willing to support as well as provide opportunities for those in need.
TAC attended the 2020 Bridge Crossing Jubilee to honor the sacrifices of our civil rights leaders who encouraged blacks to register to vote. This effort galvanized Delta's across the world to encourage blacks to exercise their right to vote, which has led to a historic presidential election with President-Elect Joe Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris as the next Chief officers of the United States of America.
